Governor Stable Weekend Bouldering in Pictures

The boulders were looking mighty fine Memorial Day weekend!
For some folks in Eastern Pennsylvania, Memorial Day weekend means barbecues, a jaunt to the Shore, and enjoying beautiful pre-summer weather. For me, it also means getting some climbing in!

Governor Stable is a local bouldering area just re-opened this year thanks to a dedicated Friends organization. Though membership is required most days the area is open to climbing, the Friends of Governor Stable host occasional Open Climb Days for non-members to come in and enjoy the boulders.

I made my first pilgrimmage to Governor Stable in early April for the Meltdown Bouldering Competition and vowed to come back to take care of unfinished business. We spent the day wandering among the rocks, finding area classics to play on, and just climbing for fun!

Dan on Pyramid (V1), a classic, but definitely a highball!

Keep your eye on the Friends of Governor Stable facebook page and website for open climb day announcements! Have you been there? Got a story to share? Tell us in the comments!
