Gear Review and Coupon Code: Jambu Women's Blossom Shoes

When it comes to casual footwear, finding the perfect balance between comfort, style, and functionality can be a challenge. Heels aren't ideal for walking around in, and athletic shoes or hiking boots you've spent hours breaking in aren't ideal for time spent out on the town.

The team behind Manhattan-based Jambu footwear aims to bring comfort and practicality to the forefront of shoe design without sacrificing style. The company's footwear products are inspired by the Jambu tree, by the beauty of the rainforest, and the concept that all of life is an adventure. Of course, every adventurer needs the right footwear.

Enter the Women's Blossom, a classic Mary Jane-style pair of shoes designed for active women looking for cute, casual, and functional footwear.

Right out of the box, I noticed the unique look of the Blossom shoes. Flower cutout details add a touch of flair around the front and side of the shoe, and the color of the footbed matches the pop stitching around the outsole. Flower cutouts aren't normally my style, but the look really grew on me after a few wears. The stitching also contrasts well with the deep, dark red color of the pair I tried.

With respect to fit, the Blossoms run true to size. They're wide enough to allow my toes to splay a bit as I walk, but not wide enough that my feet slip. The hook and loop velcro strap helped keep my feet in place. The strap was a abrasive at first and pulled on my ankle, but it's easier to adjust than a buckle closure and after a few tries, I got the fit just right. Some casual shoes with outsoles designed to take a beating can be heavy, but the Blossom shoes felt significantly lighter than I expected. They also don't make my size ten feet look enormous, as is the case with other similar casual footwear.

The Blossom shoes took few wears to break in; I'm impatient, but the more time I spent with them on my feet, the better they felt. The velcro strap softened, as did the edges of the flower cutouts. The upper itself is vegan (synthetic) leather, so a bit of a break-in period was expected. Part of the heel of the shoe is slightly padded and cradles your achilles, but I found the shoes fit better when that pad compressed. The memory foam footbed made it feel as though I was walking on a mattress, but still supported my arches.

The Blossom shoes provided good traction in most situations. I took them out for a short walk in the snow, (with socks on, of course), and slipped a bit, but that was to be expected. I also wore them around town, to Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market, and around the house. They performed equally well on wet ground, dirt, carpet, and wet tile floor, and kept me comfortable all day.

Love the design on the bottom of the shoes! Traction with style and flair.
Overall, I was impressed with my first pair of Jambu shoes. The Blossoms are thoughtfully designed, cute, comfortable, and functional. I could see them being ideal for days that combine errands, walking around town, and short, easy hikes.

They're clearly a warm-weather pair of shoes, and I can't wait to see how they hold up when the temperatures go above freezing. They come in five other colors if red isn't your cup of tea, and some colors are available in wide sizes. I also love that Jambu's products are packed in 100% recycled, recyclable and re-usable packaging, and shoe outsoles are made with partially recycled rubber.

If you're interested in trying out the Blossom shoes, or any other product on Jambu's website, use code "jambuadventure" for free ground shipping through February 25th! Huge thanks to Jambu for providing a complimentary pair of shoes to try, and as always, the opinions expressed here are my own.

I tried the Blossom. Cushy yet They seemed heavy to me. I don't know if the J41 brand is tied to Jambu but they make similar casual shoes.

Agreed 100%, Vicki! They're comfy, but don't feel heavy and don't make my foot seem huge. You're right, they do remind me of J41.
