Sierra Trading Post has been publishing articles related to everything from gear reviews to how-to articles and adventure stories on the Sierra Social Hub over the past few years. In an effort to provide more information and more articles, Sierra Trading Post assembled a group of outdoor bloggers to regularly add their voice to the Sierra Social Hub.

Since the inception of Sierra Trading Post's #TeamSierra blog network, I've been fortunate enough to be a part of it. The network is in its third season, and for the past three "seasons," I've had a platform (soapbox?) to share stories and tips around all sorts of things.

In addition to being able to share tips and stories around topics that matter to me, I'm also an occasional co-host of the Sierra Trading Post's #trailtime Twitter chat. This week, we're talking about one of my favorite things - snow.

To celebrate the third season of #TeamSierra and to help you gear up for winter, Sierra Trading Post and I are teaming up to give away two $75 gift cards. And when it comes to shopping for gear, $75 goes a long way with Sierra Trading Post. The giveaway will run until 12:00AM EST on December 17th. Two winners will be chosen at random and will be emailed the gift card code, so be sure to leave a valid method of contact. Enter using any of the methods below and join us for a snow-themed #trailtime chat on Thursday, December 11th. Good luck!

The best part? Everybody wins! Use code "SHUB1214" for 30% off your order whether you win the giveaway or not!

My favorite thing about winter? We ski a lot, and we snowshoe, so those are tops. But honestly I like the quiet you get when you're outside and there is a fresh blanket of snow. Living in the city I miss that the most.

I live in Michigan and my favorite thing about winter here is the snow. It means getting together with family and going sledding. So much fun!

I love how winter opens up space. You can see new things in the winter when there's no leaves on the trees. I used to think it was dead and not as pretty, but I've come to see winter in a whole new light!

So many things! I love skiing, I love snowshoeing, but most of all, I love the silence that comes after a blizzard. Everything is fresh and still and clean!

While I'm not a fan of spending a lot of time outdoors in the winter, I do love the calm quiet feeling right after a snow storm! And I do enjoy how less busy and crowded parks and other outdoor places are!

I love how beautiful everything is just after a snow fall. I love playing in the snow with my dogs. I love hot spiced apple cider. I love curling up by a fire. I love lots of things about winter. :)

I love the gleaming white and being playful in the snow!

I knew you'd say something about skiing :) But there seems to be a consensus that the quiet snow gives us is pretty special!

I love this, Sara! You're right, it can seem like everything is dead, or asleep, but the world's also so beautiful and quiet.

Less people on our favorite trails in and around our small tourist town. Being able to explore and enjoy our area with family and friends in the peaceful stillness of the winter, embracing the beauty of the snow as it transforms everything around us. We are so blessed to have our 4 seasons and an especially the long winters here in Northern Michigan! It's a wonderful life! :)

My favorite thing about winter in the desert is that I can continue to do all my regular activites, but enjoy the cooler weather. Trail running in the "winter" (today its 68 degreees) is my favorite thing to do. I also love migrating North and hitting the slopes. Skiing always brings back memories of being on the slopes with my dad.

Those are great ways to enjoy the snow for sure, Rich!

Sledding is the BEST! Thanks for the comment, Nicole!

Now that's a pretty picture for sure.

Winter and I have not always gotten along, but since I've started skiing, it's a lot easier to love the snow! My favorite part is playing in the snow with my cousins (who still love cold weather no matter what). The happiness they have is infectious!

Winter hiking is great! The temperatures are more comfortable, there are no bugs, and the trails are less crowded. And after a snowfall it is so quiet and peaceful. It is a great time to be outdoors!

Being playful is awesome! There's something about snow that always makes me feel like a kid :)

Katie L said...

Good call, Heather!

Katie L said...

Mmmm that sounds wonderful, and hot cocoa!

Katie L said...

Yeah? What's your favorite winter jacket?

Katie L said...

Beautiful!

Katie L said...

Man, Michigan does sound pretty spectacular! I'd love to visit in fall to see the foliage sometime.

Katie L said...

That's so odd to me, Brandon, a winter with 68 degree temps! It must be nice to do what you're excited to do in the winter, then be able to travel for snow.

Katie L said...

Skiing definitely makes winter more fun! And you're right, playing with people, especially kids, who love cold weather is the best!

No bugs, that's one of my absolute favorite things about winter! It gets so bad in PA and NY.

No more bugs is my favorite! Haha
