Climb On! Creme Review

My package of fun, courtesy of the Rx Review.
My hands take a beating on a daily basis, and have for as long as I can remember. Whether it was long hours at the climbing gym, a day of playing outside on rock, or these days, CrossFit workouts with what seems like an endless number of pull-ups, I always seem to be fighting calluses, blisters and more. And when my hands are hurting, it makes it hard to enjoy anything I'm doing. Then, thanks to a giveaway on the Rx Review, I found myself with a tube of Climb On! Creme and a possible solution to all of my callus and blister-related problems.

The company grew from humble beginnings with the creation of the Climb On! Bar in 1996 to a fully operational company in 2000. Though there are only ten people on staff now, Climb On! Products still operates out of the same warehouse they moved into in 2003, but they're growing fast. And with good reason.

Since the creation of the Climb On! Bar 16 years ago, Climb On! has evolved to include a full line of skincare products, including sunscreen and lip balm. But they're not your typical skincare products by any means. Unlike most lotions and balms, Climb On! Products are made with food grade ingredients and are free from synthetic fillers, chemicals, petroleum and fragrances. Instead, they use food grade carrier oils, therapeutic grade essential oils, Fair Trade organic shea butter, organic aloe vera, unrefined beeswax, castile soap, witch hazel, distilled water and an assortment of herbal extracts, clays, powdered roots and herbs. But the company's commitment to truly pure ingredients goes beyond the products they create:
"Our mission at Climb On! is one we accept with joy and passion. We have a mission to provide education for those who are open to hearing how important our skin is as a living organism to our health. [We have a mission] to help people understand the difference between a truly pure or natural product and the marketing terms used to fool you into believing a product is 100% natural." (via the Climb On! website)
Yep. They pretty much look like this all the time.
I'd originally heard of Climb On! Products through friends in the climbing community. They sponsor amazing climbers like Beth Rodden and Climb On, Sister! founder Jeline Guiles. But despite the company's name, it's clearly not just for climbers, or for climbing-related scrapes, cuts and other related skin issues. Over the past six months, I've used my tube of Climb On! creme to:

- soothe windburned skin
- moisturize dry skin
- heal a variety of sizes of blisters from running,  CrossFit workouts and more
- heal scrapes and rug burns
- soften calluses

The Good:
Climb On! Creme really works. I usually put it on my hands right before bed and am always amazed at how much better they look when I wake up the next day. I never expected them to be completely healed, but am still impressed with the level of healing I can achieve overnight. I've used it on my elbows, ears and lips to soothe dry spots and had the same results. It's easy to apply and a little bit goes a long way. After six months, I've barely made a dent in the 4.5 oz. tube. And I love the fact that the Climb On! team's philosophy is, "if you can't eat it, don't put it on your skin."

The Not So Good: It's greasy. I wait until right before bed to use the Creme because it's almost impossible not to get it all over everything you touch once it's applied. But that's an attribute I'm willing to live with because the stuff works. It has a strong, albeit natural scent, which I love, but may not be appealing to everyone.

I could use some for my hands and especially my ashy elbows. The dry Cali air always tears them up!

This is a fantastic post, I am new to your blog and stumbled upon it and find it very useful! This cream looks fantastic, I have struggled finding specific outdoor, camping equipment and have stuck with my usual company http://www.tauntonleisure.com/ ,(apologies for the seemingly shameless plug, it is just an opinion and not attempting to thrust anything at you!) that is as specialist but this seems like just what I need!

Very impressed with this! Am new to your blog and stumbled upon this fantastic read. I have been struggling to find the ideal specialist camping
equipment and this cream looks ideal and may save a great deal of hassle when venturing outdoors!

I think my hands are just going to be permanently rough :) Thanks for entering, Kristie!

Nice, Katie! I love that you appreciate the fact that the roughness of your hands is a result of how much you enjoy what you do. And that post is absolutely beautiful. Seriously, beautiful.

I've heard a lot about Climb On products on twitter but as I've never seen it in stores up here I have yet to try it. Anything extra moisturizing sounds great because it's so dry up here in the winter! Add in climbing chalk and mittens being taken on and off and I get some very dry hands.

My poor hands would love some of this! Winter is hangnail season for me :(

Katie said...

That was exactly what happened with me, Scott! I'd heard about them on Twitter, but haven't found them in any stores or climbing gyms around here. Good thing there's the internet for shopping :) I can imagine it gets dry and cold up in Alberta in the winter. Great weather for ice climbing, though!

Yep, I can empathize :) Thanks for entering, Sarah!

Hi my name is tonya williams and i subscribe to Miner. I'm in desperate need of a cream for my hands because I also participate in out door activities such as climbing and hiking in various climates in NJ and with the season changes my skin also try to adapt to the seasonal weather as well as enviromental changes. My hands in feet gets it the worst with chaping dryness cracking with hardness roughing it. I know with a sample of a good product you will have a committed customer. It is important to me to have my skin intact for good health from micros and i want them to look presentable. I can be contacted via facebook or tonyawilliams04@yahoo.com. Thanking you in advance.

Tonya, thanks so much for reaching out. Unfortunately, the giveaway ended on November 12, but I'd definitely recommend looking at the Climb On! website (http://www.climbonproducts.com/) for everything you need.
